Crawford’s interest in aviation started with family trips out for dinner at age 7 at the Grill at Glasgow Airport in Scotland. After his first flight, in a Viscount from Glasgow it looked as if his destiny was to work in aviation.
Having studied Engineering at University – with internships including Douglas Aircraft – Crawford secured his first proper aviation job with Britain’s third largest airline Dan-Air.
Thereafter he undertook a Masters degree in Air Transport at Cranfield University.
Moving to Airbus in Toulouse he was fortunate enough to be involved with the first sale of Airbuses to British Airways. He then left France to take over Airbus marketing in the Pacific – based in Sydney and there over the next few years success was seen at Air New Zealand, Jetstar and Qantas.
After Sydney it was time to return to Toulouse for a new position marketing A330s including – the A330-200F, successive A330ceo upgrades and the A330neo. He has now moved on to Freighter Marketing as Airbus now implements its freighter strategy.
